On Thursday, USA Hockey announced its final roster decisions for the Under-17 Men’s Select Team that will compete at the 2023 Five Nations Tournament. This comes on the heels of the USA Hockey Boys Select 16 Development Camp that concluded the day before. The roster consists of top 2007-born youth hockey players from across the country, in which, three from the Michigan District were selected.

A pair of Victory Honda standouts will head to the Czech Republic next month. Goaltender Wesley Jefferson-Swint and defenseman Chase Reid were standouts from this week’s development camp. Jefferson-Swint was among the top netminders in the camp, with a 2.30 goals-against average and .911 save percentage in five scrimmage games. He’s a 6-foot-1 prospect who’s played for VH the last three seasons. He posted a 23-9-0 record last season for the No. 11-ranked team in the country.

Reid is a 6-foot defender from Chesterfield, Michigan, who was the top D on VH last season. He put up four points in the USA Hockey Boys Select 16 Development Camp, and was stout defensively.
Compuware forward Travis Hayes also earned a Team USA roster spot. He was one of the best all-around performers at the camp, making plays in all three zones from the wing. Hayes was one of Compuware’s top scorers last season, with 15 points in 19 HPHL games. He was also selected 25th overall by the Soo Greyounds in the 2023 OHL Draft earlier this year.
