Hardware on the line this week! Trenton looking to extend the state’s longest consecutive streak of seasons with a regional championship — eight and counting — while other programs like Dexter are just looking to claim their first ever. The ‘Lumbertown’ rivalry between Mona Shores and Reeths-Puffer quite literally has a wooden mitten on the line. Plenty of matchups I expected to see, with a couple others that none of us saw coming. Regional Final Wednesday is this week! Get your matchup previews and picks below!

Cranbrook vs. Liggett
Division-III, Region 23

CRANBROOK
18-7-0
3rd place MIHL North
Last regional title: 2025
Last state title: 2024
Key performer: Blake Tice (2.23 GAA, 90.8 SV%)

LIGGETT
23-5-0
2nd place Metro League East
Last regional title: 2020
Last state title: 2012
Key performer: Nick Gould (44G, 21A)

Petey’s Pick: Sticking with Cranbrook here. I picked them to win this region pre-tournament and I don’t see any reason to waver from that. Cranes reach the quarterfinal rounds for the third straight year.

Saginaw Heritage vs. Flint Powers
Division-II, Region 12

SAGINAW HERITAGE
8-19-0
6th place SVL
Last regional title: 2024
Last state title: None
Key performer: Wyatt Jarecki (11G, 11A)

FLINT POWERS
23-5-0
1st place SVL
Last regional title: 2025
Last state title: 2025
Key performer: Ayden Cook (49G, 42A)

Petey’s Pick: Sticking with Flint Powers. They’re the prohibitive favorite to win D-II, so by default they should win here and continue to win, especially considering Traverse City Central’s upset of Alpena in the opposite region.

Clarkston vs. Detroit Catholic Central
Division-I, Region 4

CLARKSTON
12-15-0
1st place OAA
Last regional title: 2025
Last state title: None
Key performer: Gavin Anderson (17G, 7A)

DETROIT CATHOLIC CENTRAL
25-1-1
1st place MIHL North
Last regional title: 2025
Last state title: 2025
Key performer: Ryan Dye (9G, 25A)

Petey’s Pick: It’s CC. I said this on the Bracketology podcast last week that I think Clarkston is playing well enough to keep it close for a while and make the Shamrocks earn it here, but the pick is, was and will be CC.

Rockford vs. Forest Hills Central
Division-I, Region 1

ROCKFORD
19-8-1
2nd place OKC Rue
Last regional title: 2021
Last state title: None
Key performer: Jonah Packard (36G, 20A)

FOREST HILLS CENTRAL
19-9-0
3rd place OKC Rue
Last regional title: 2025
Last state title: 2025
Key performer: Benny Mielock (27G, 12A)

Petey’s Pick: I can’t say I’m overly confident. This matchup worries me but I’m ultimately sticking with MY Forest Hills Central Rangers. Close, maybe overtime, ugly and every bit the feel of a playoff game.

TBD
Division-III, Region 24

TBD
19-8-1
2nd place OKC Rue
Last regional title: 2021
Last state title: None
Key performer: Jonah Packard (36G, 20A)

TBD
19-9-0
3rd place OKC Rue
Last regional title: 2025
Last state title: 2025
Key performer: Benny Mielock (27G, 12A)

Petey’s Pick: I can’t say I’m overly confident. This matchup worries me but I’m ultimately sticking with MY Forest Hills Central Rangers. Close, maybe overtime, ugly and every bit the feel of a playoff game.

Petoskey vs. Bay Reps
Division-III, Region 19

PETOSKEY
22-6-0
2nd place Big North
Last regional title: 2025
Last state title: None
Key performer: Madden Pateman (30G, 24A)

BAY REPS
15-12-1
Independent
Last regional title: 2024
Last state title: None
Key performer: Tyler Boynton-Fisher (1.62 GAA, 92.9 SV%)

Petey’s Pick: If you’ve got a goalie, you’ve got a chance. So long as Boynton-Fisher is in net for the Reps, I ain’t changing nothin’ about my pick here and beyond.

Ann Arbor Huron vs. Livonia Stevenson
Division-II, Region 14

ANN ARBOR HURON
10-17-0
4th place SEC Red
Last regional title: 2010
Last state title: None
Key performer: Carson Randall (14G, 20A)

LIVONIA STEVENSON
17-9-1
1st place KLAA East
Last regional title: 2025
Last state title: 2013
Key performer: Colin Stroble (11G, 30A)

Petey’s Pick: Huron completed the three-game season sweep of cross-town rival Skyline to get to the regional final. Unfortunately, the ‘reward’ is the best team they’ve faced all season… by a lit. Still Stevenson.

Midland Dow vs. Traverse City Central
Division-II, Region 11

MIDLAND DOW
16-9-3
2nd place SVL
Last regional title: 2022
Last state title: 2022
Key performer: Caden Nemeth (22G, 24A)

TRAVERSE CITY CENTRAL
16-13-0
3rd place Big North
Last regional title: 2025
Last state title: 2006
Key performer: Graham Peters (20G, 27A)

Petey’s Pick: The Trojans’ upset of Alpena opens the door for Dow quite a bit. TC Central beat Dow at the MIHL Showcase last month, but there were SIX total power-play goals in that game. More 5-on-5 hockey in this one and a better chance for the Chargers to get it done. Midland Dow.

South Lyon vs. Orchard Lake St. Mary’s
Division-III, Region 22

SOUTH LYON
22-4-2
1st place LVC
Last regional title: 2009
Last state title: None
Key performer: Nathan Ligi (39G, 47A)

ORCHARD LAKE ST. MARY’S
22-4-0
2nd place MIHL North
Last regional title: 2025
Last state title: 2025
Key performer: Charlie Roberts (28G, 23A)

Petey’s Pick: A 10-2 win in the Eaglets’ first playoff game was just the start of things to come. I’m sticking with OLSM, as it should continue to roll right to the D-III Final Four.

FNV vs. Big Rapids
Division-III, Region 20

FNV
16-11-0
2nd place MMHC
Last regional title: 1992 (Nouvel)
Last state title: None
Key performer: Tristan Pohl (52G, 30A)

BIG RAPIDS
13-14-1
Independents
Last regional title: 2019
Last state title: None
Key performer: Brody Ososki (32G, 23A)

Petey’s Pick: Big Rapids knocked off my original pick to win this region, and I’m more than happy to slot them in as my replacement pick. Cardinals have a chance to be the biggest surprise guest at Plymouth next week.

Calumet vs. Houghton
Division-III, Region 17

CALUMET
18-8-2
3rd place Great Lakes
Last regional title: 2022
Last state title: 2008
Key performer: Nathan Londo (23G, 19A)

HOUGHTON
21-6-1
Independents
Last regional title: 2024
Last state title: 1982
Key performer: Connor Arko (21G, 33A)

Petey’s Pick: Calumet altered the regional championship picture I had in mind, but I still think the result is the same. Gremlins get back to the state tournament rounds with a big win.

Plymouth vs. Canton
Division-I, Region 8

PLYMOUTH
12-15-1
3rd place KLAA East
Last regional title: 2014
Last state title: None
Key performer: Cooper Karapuz (10G, 12A)

CANTON
14-13-1
2nd place KLAA East
Last regional title: 2022
Last state title: None
Key performer: Will Schley (32G, 30A)

Petey’s Pick: Plymouth’s top three lines are more consistent but Canton’s trio of Schley, John Nickel and Cam James is more high end. Cobras extend the season for a few more days.

Mona Shores vs. Reeths-Puffer
Division-II, Region 9

MONA SHORES
16-11-1
3rd place OKC Fischer
Last regional title: 2017
Last state title: 2000
Key performer: Eli Habetler (26G, 24A)

REETHS-PUFFER
13-12-1
4th place OKC Fischer
Last regional title: 2024
Last state title: None
Key performer: Hayden Taylor (24G, 20A)

Petey’s Pick: This was the matchup I wanted in Region 9 and this is the matchup we’re getting! I felt confident in my pick a week ago and still do today. Go Sailors!

U-D Jesuit vs. Dexter
Division-II, Region 15

U-D JESUIT
11-15-0
4th place MIHL South
Last regional title: 2024
Last state title: None
Key performer: Carter Gogate (10G, 14A)

DEXTER
19-9-0
1st place SEC White
Last regional title: None
Last state title: None
Key performer: Jeremy Schroeder (47G, 30A)

Petey’s Pick: I’ll root for history, and for an inspiring Dexter team to win the program’s first regional title in history. But ultimately, I think an MIHL team of any caliber may be too much for the Dreads here. Cubs win.

Wyandotte vs. Trenton
Division-II, Region 16

WYANDOTTE
17-10-1
1st place Metro League West
Last regional title: 2015
Last state title: 2011
Key performer: Cam Roe (17G, 19A)

TRENTON
15-12-1
1st place MIHL South
Last regional title: 2025
Last state title: 2014
Key performer: Brett Allen (20G, 35A)

Petey’s Pick: It was Trenton when the regions were assigned in the fall, and there’s been no reason to waver from that. Trojans by a lot.

Marquette vs. Escanaba
Division-III, Region 18

MARQUETTE
18-7-3
2nd place Great Lakes
Last regional title: 2025
Last state title: 2008
Key performer: Brody Sheldon (19G, 25A)

ESCANABA
18-9-1
4th place Great Lakes
Last regional title: 2023
Last state title: None
Key performer: Cully Hayes (2.72 GAA, 89.3 SV%)

Petey’s Pick: Not changing my pick. This is a bad stylistic matchup for the Eskymos and I just think Marquette’s forecheck overwhelms ’em in this one.

Romeo vs. Eisenhower
Division-I, Region 6

ROMEO
13-14-1
4th place MAC Red
Last regional title: 2024
Last state title: 2016
Key performer: Cormac Young (20G, 15A)

EISENHOWER
22-6-0
1st place MAC Red
Last regional title: 2025
Last state title: None
Key performer: Nathan Schilkey (40G, 37A)

Petey’s Pick: Eisenhower’s less-than-dominant win over Anchor Bay in the regional semifinal was not very encouraging. Still not a strong enough reason for me to change my pick here, but the rest of this playoff run got a lot more suspect.

Hartland vs. Howell
Division-I, Region 3

HARTLAND
21-7-0
2nd place KLAA West
Last regional title: 2023
Last state title: 2022
Key performer: Vinnie Sabala (2.24 GAA, 90.3 SV%)

HOWELL
25-1-0
1st place KLAA West
Last regional title: 2025
Last state title: None
Key performer: Luke Storm (36G, 33A)

Petey’s Pick: Eisenhower’s less-than-dominant win over Anchor Bay in the regional semifinal was not very encouraging. Still not a strong enough reason for me to change my pick here, but the rest of this playoff run got a lot more suspect.

Jackson United vs. Cap City
Division-I, Region 2

JACKSON UNITED
18-10-0
2nd place SEC White
Last regional title: 2015
Last state title: None
Key performer: Brennan Forward (28G, 35A)

CAP CITY
15-12-0
Independents
Last regional title: 2023
Last state title: 1976 (LCC)
Key performer: Daniel Hanzal (32G, 13A)

Petey’s Pick: This is a far more intriguing matchup than I initially expected in Region 2. I’m sticking with Jackson though, winning the program’s first regional title in over 10 years.

Lake Orion vs. Utica Unified
Division-I, Region 5

LAKE ORION
9-18-0
4th place OAA Red
Last regional title: 2021
Last state title: None
Key performer: Jagger Kimber (4.54 GAA, 88.7 SV%)

UTICA UNIFIED
10-19-0
5th place MAC Red
Last regional title: 1983 (Fraser)
Last state title: 1983 (Fraser)
Key performer: Lucas Beels (33G, 24A)

Petey’s Pick: I didn’t have either of these teams making it to the Regional Final so this is a blank slate. But I do love this Utica squad with an offensive tandem of Beels and Alexander Gorgievski that is very dangerous.

Brighton vs. Northville
Division-I, Region 7

BRIGHTON
17-11-0
4th place KLAA West
Last regional title: 2025
Last state title: 2018
Key performer: Connor Duffany (15G, 18A)

NORTHVILLE
19-8-0
3rd place KLAA West
Last regional title: 2017
Last state title: None
Key performer: Tommy Marinoff (29G, 17A)

Petey’s Pick: The matchup I expected with the result I still expect. This Bulldogs teams is maturing before our eyes and may not yet be a legitimate D-I title contender but this run will springboard them to being one in the future.

Byron Center vs. Caledonia
Division-II, Region 10

BYRON CENTER
16-10-2
5th place OKC Rue
Last regional title: 2024
Last state title: 2024
Key performer: Luke Goheen (29G, 16A)

CALEDONIA
18-5-1
1st place OKC Rue
Last regional title: 2018
Last state title: None
Key performer: Sam Hoag (1.83 GAA, 94.6 SV%)

Petey’s Pick: I’m uber confident in this Caledonia group and I just think they get it done. Not teetering away from my initial pick in the least.

St. Clair Shores Unified vs. Rochester United
Division-II, Region 13

SCS UNIFIED
21-7-0
2nd place MAC Red
Last regional title: 2011
Last state title: 1978 (Lakeview)
Key performer: Caden Gersch (35G, 27A)

ROCHESTER UNITED
21-6-1
1st place OAA Red
Last regional title: 2025
Last state title: None
Key performer: Nolan Hizer (18G, 45A)

Petey’s Pick: The Lakers keep this game close, maybe even force overtime with that dangerous top line of Gersch and Gavin McKee. But RU survives and gets back to the D-II Quarterfinal.

East Grand Rapids vs. Lumen Christi
Division-III, Region 21

EAST GRAND RAPIDS
15-11-0
6th place OKC Rue
Last regional title: 2025
Last state title: None
Key performer: Charles Finch (1.97 GAA, 85.5 SV%)

LUMEN CHRISTI
8-19-2
5th place Metro League East
Last regional title: 2011
Last state title: 1978
Key performer: Luke DuMont (24G, 23A)

Petey’s Pick: I didn’t think a six-win Lumen team has a snowball’s chance in getting here. They’ve got a puncher’s chance, but in a lot of ways, the EGR matchup is even tougher than GRCC last week. Pioneers win.
